Common Questions
Do you check for glaucoma?
Yes. All comprehensive exams include an intraocular pressure test and evaluation of the optic nerves checking for glaucoma.
Do I have to have my eyes dialated?
We do dialate your eyes during a comprehensive eye exam; however, if you elect to have the optomap images taken and all views are normal, we may not have to also dialate your eyes at that exam.
Can I drive after my eyes have been dialated?
if you have your eyes dialated, it will be difficult to focus for 2-4 hours following and you will be very light sensitive. We will give you dark sunglasses to wear and you may drive if you feel comfortable doing so. Most of the focusing difficulty will be up close, rather than far away.
Please use caution. Let us know if you are not comfortable and we will call a driver for you.
What is the Optomap?
At what age should children have their first eye exam?
American Optometric Association recommends that children receive their first comprehensive eye assessment at six months of age. Our office participates in the InfantSee program which provides children between 6 months-12 months to receive a NO CHARGE, one time eye exam. For more information please visit www.infantsee.org.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We participate with VSP, Medicare, and Medicaid. Other plans accepted, please call our office to verify.
